Gooood Friiiiidaaaaay Dragons! What a fantastic week of school we have had! An interesting fast fact about today, this is last Friday the 13th with a full moon until 2049. It is hard to believe that Wednesday of this week marked the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on our country. May we never forget those that lost their lives to this horrific event. I am sure most of you are like me, you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news of the attack.
The following are a few items to put on your calendars:
Lastly, here's a reminder to students and parents about chronic absenteeism and the Kansas compulsory attendance law. If a student is under the age of 18, a process leading to a report to the county attorney as a truancy case will begin when he/she has been unexcused for 3 consecutive days, 5 days in a semester or 7 in a school year. Also, unexcused absences may result in no credit on the dates listed as unexcused. If the school has to initiate the contact, the absence may be recorded as unexcused. We ask that you bring a doctor's note to the office each time your child is absent due to a doctor visit.
Everyone please have a wonderful weekend!

The Dragons were victorious in their first game of the season against Chase. They played a flag football game as their opponents were short on players.
The Wilson Junior High Football team defeated Tescott Thursday night 64-8 with the game ending at halftime. Wyatt Bohnen, Connor Charvat and Taegan Thrasher each had two rushing touchdowns. Wyatt Bohnen also had two punt returns and an interception return for touchdowns. On defense, Wyatt Bohnen had 11 tackles and assists. Cade Brokes had 7 tackles and assists and Briceson Pasek had 5 tackles and assists.
The players were ready to block and tackle somebody else besides their own team. They came out ready to play and that definitely reflected in the score. As a team, we did a lot of good things, but there is still plenty to work on to get better.
The Wilson Jr. High Lady Dragons competed against Chase in their first volleyball game on September 5.
On September 12, The Jr. High Lady Dragons played Tescott. The Dragons won all games A, B, and C. The A Team won 25-19 and 25-18, the B Team won 25-16 and 25-21, and C Team won 27 - 18. Leading servers were Skyler Cullens and Anna Thielen. Coaches Heinze and Zelenka were proud of the girls for their improved floor play and serving. Great job girls!
Wilson Schools will be focusing on one character trait per month this year. During August, students in grades 7 - 12 made posters for elementary students focusing on KINDNESS.
September's focus word is RESPONSIBILITY. Students will be presenting to the students in a variety of ways including skits, videos, and slide presentations.
Mrs. Hanzlick's seminar class' poster, Kindness is the Best Way!, was voted the best KINDNESS poster.
Histograms came to life this week for the 6th grade class. The students did a great job of collecting and analyzing data as part of their statistics unit.
On Tuesday the Lady Dragons hosted Lakeside and Tescott where they added another win to their record. With a few challenges they have faced they are working hard and are determined to overcome them as a team. The Lady Dragons will host Sylvan, Osborne, and Natoma on Tuesday.
Messy Church offers Wilson students a time to receive extra help on homework. Messy Church believes all children learn differently and tutoring and other fun activities may give each child a way to reach their true potential.
