Wilson Dragons say, "Thank You Veterans!"
We would be remiss if we did not recognize the efforts of the many individuals that help organize and make our Veterans Day Celebration a memorable experience. A committee of five teachers worked diligently to provide a fantastic day of celebrating for our local Veterans and our students. Mrs. Thielen, Mrs. Gould, Mrs. Hanzlick, Mrs. Bourbon and Mr. Shipley, "Thank You, for your efforts!" Our two food service ladies (Cindy Heinze and Virginia McCartney) deserve a huge "THANK YOU," for preparing the special meal for our Veterans, guests and students. We also want to thank Ms. Dlabal and Ms. Major's 4th and 5th grade classes for the table decorations. Mrs Slechta and her art classes for additional wall decor, Mrs. Templeton's FACS students for the wonderful desert, the sophomore students for hosting today's special guest, the seniors for serving desert and the office staff for taking the RSVP's and registering our guests. As our guests were arriving our juniors took some time to interview our local Veterans.
Our kindergarten students kicked off our ceremonies by leading The Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless the USA, followed with Marches of the Armed Forces by our elementary students. Brandalyn Thyfault sang a beautiful rendition of the Star Bangled Banner. The freshmen provided historical readings and slide show. Today's program was concluded with the playing of TAPS by Aiden Watts.
Thank you Veterans for your sacrifices and service. We also want to thank you for helping Wilson Schools provide memorable moments for our students.
Ms. Dlabal's 4th grade class enjoys their pizza meal donated by Grandma's Soda Shop and Wilson Foods. The students won their pizza party by winning a Red Ribbon Week poster contest with their message "We'd Rather Eat Bugs Than Do Drugs."
