Happy Friday Dragons,
It is incredible to think that next week is the last week of January!! Great things continue in the classrooms of Wilson School. Students and staff have both been battling sickness and the flu bug! The high school basketball teams have been playing the league tournament this week. High school scholars bowl is gearing up for their league competition. Next week is equally as busy for our JH and HS Dragons.
Homegrown Wilsonite, Megan Zelenka, is now our junior high and high school science teacher. We are excited to have her as a part of our certified staff. Her enthusiasm, energy and overall love for Wilson School makes her a great fit as we continue to move forward.
This week our high school basketball teams have competed in the league tournament. The boys have completed their three games and finished 1-2. The girls are 1-1 and will be playing their third game tonight.
Next Wednesday the high school scholars bowl team travels to St. John's for the NPL Tournament. On Thursday the high school Forensics team kicks off their schedule at Sylvan.
Next week is the final week of competition for the junior high girls and boys basketball teams as they compete in the league tournament in Chase. Games begin on Monday.
Some exciting things on the curriculum front for our elementary teachers is research and gathering of information for adopting new basals and resources for Reading. They will continue their work this spring and hopefully we will be able to make a recommendation to the Board. We are also looking at our math needs. We will keep you posted as we continue through the spring semester.
The county spelling bee is Wednesday in Ellsworth at 9:00 AM. Good Luck to the 4th - 8th graders that are representing the Wilson Dragons. Also on Wednesday, the 3rd graders will be visiting the Smoky Hill Museum in Salina as a part of their Kansas Day activities.
As always, if you want to come visit or take a tour, contact the office and schedule a time with Mr. Fox.
Have a great weekend Dragons!

Students are asked to bring donations for the week of January 27 to January 31 to put in the bucket of the Wilson staff member they would like to see "Kiss the Pig." Also, anyone can make an online donation at the link below. Please feel free to share the link with family and friends.
Newly hired science teacher, Megan Zelenka, began work January 6th. Ms. Zelenka graduated from Wilson High School as she is a lifelong Wilson resident. Zelenka attended Kansas State University and is a recent graduate of Fort Hays State University.
Ms. Zelenka is a familiar face at Wilson Schools as she previously was employed as a special education paraeducator. Ms. Zelenka is also known as "Coach Zelenka" as she coaches junior high volleyball and boys basketball. In her spare time, Ms. Zelenka keeps busy as a sponsor for Science Club, Yearbook, and the Junior Class.
