According to MedlinePlus, “Posture is how you hold your body.” In the modern age, many of us spend hours hunched over computers and iPhones, which causes poor posture. However, with a few simple changes to your routine and mindset, you can improve your posture and enjoy the benefits of it!

The first simple change you can make to help improve your posture is to notice when your posture gets worse. Noticing and actively correcting your posture is necessary and improving it! Try to take note of when your posture worsens, why it worsens, and any pain that can come from slouching/craning your neck.

Proper alignment is also very important when trying to correct your posture long-term. Straighten your spine, keep your feet on the floor, and keep your shoulders relaxed.

Another important thing is to take frequent breaks and stretch. Stretching is necessary for maintaining a healthy body, especially in the corporate and academic world. We as students spend so long sitting still in chairs, and it is important to take breaks to move our muscles. This helps avoid cramps, pain, and soreness, and it can also help you keep your muscles relaxed.

By trying to incorporate these few things into your daily life, you can significantly reduce pain, and improve your posture, and life in general!
