Those of you who know me already know the basics...
The first few slides below are about me :)
And in case you were curious...here are a few other random facts about me:
What's my name?
Paula Trapani
How old am I?
Pretty old :)
When's my birthday?
February 23
Am I married?
I have been happily married since 2001.
Do I have any children?
In addition to my 850 or so LR kids, I am the proud mother of a beautiful and amazing daughter (who is 17) and a handsome and amazing son (who is 12).
What's my job title?
Middle School Library Media Specialist (That's a fancier way of saying "librarian.")
Have I ever worked in any other school or library?
Nope. This is my first and only job as a librarian...and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. LR is my home away from home and has been since 1998.
What is my job exactly?
My job has many parts:
Teacher
Book specialist & reader's advisor
Information specialist
Technology specialist & technology trainer
Library "manager" (book orders, budget, etc.)
Makerspace facilitator
Webmaster
Research specialist
Is my job boring?
No way!!! Lok at the list of stuff I do--I'm busy all the time, every day is different, and I get to be around books, computers, and kids all day! How could I ever be bored?!
Well, duh!
What kind of a librarian would I be if I didn't like books and reading?? Since I can remember, I've always loved getting lost in a book.
But the meanest" question you can ask a librarian is, "What's your favorite book?" There are just too many to name! But here are a few, in no particular order:
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Nowadays, libraries are so much more than just books!
Lucky for me, I happen to love (and be pretty good at) learning about all the new technology out there. I've been LR's webmaster since 1998, and I take classes on the latest technology and how to incorporate it into my lessons all the time. I hope you're ready--you'll be learning about all kinds of tech stuff with me: Google docs, Google Classroom, Microsoft Office, 3D printing, iPads, laptops, programs to make movies, searching the Internet safely, and so much more!
I'm a student at heart. I love to learn, and I love to share what I've learned with others. I guess that's why I love teaching so much!
I love music! All kinds. My faves range from U2 to Billy Joel to Led Zepplin to Journey to Bastille to just about everything in between. But my absolute favorite group of all time is The Beatles. In fact, my daughter was named after a Beatles song. :)
Even though I'm a "book nerd," I'm also a "TV junkie."
I love movies, TV shows, and Netflix series of all kinds!!! There are waaaaaaay too many to name. But here are a few: The Breakfast Club, When Harry Met Sally, Love Actually, Grease, Modern Family, Dexter, Wentworth, Game of Thrones, the list goes on!
