Project Description
Student Tasks
Use the docs posted on this page, library books, and the documents distributed in class to gather facts and images on specified subtopics related to slavery in New York;
Apply these facts to the creation of an informative and creative MOOVLY to teach the class about these topics;
Work COLLABORATIVELY to gather and paraphrase information, collect visuals, and create an original, creative, and informative teaching tool.
Your finished movie should be:
1. INFORMATIVE: factual, interesting, visual.
Pretend that you are a tour guide leading us on a virtual tour of locations that are important to know about as we become informed about this topic. Make sure to never lose sight of your focus--that New York has a "hidden history" and you want to share that with us.
2. CREATIVE: photos, animations, music
Use all of the features of Moovly to enhance your tour. Use photos that will be clearly visible on the big screen. Use animations to hold the audience's interest. Add a soft musical background to enhance the entire movie.
Timeline
Tips
Complete ALL boxes on your note-taking sheet including the 2 boxes in the left-hand column, the storyboard in the right-hand column, and the conclusion box at the bottom.
Save 1 image per topic plus 1 more image for the "title."
The text and image for each "stop" on your tour should tell us something most people would be surprised to learn about New York's history.
There should be a clear conclusion statement to share why you think it's important that this "hidden history" has now been uncovered and shared with the world.
Each "scene" should be no more than 20 seconds. The entire Moovly should be no more than 2 minutes.
Use the timings, clip art, and animations in Moovly to enhance the tour and keep our attention.
Finished Moovly will be presented on Friday. No exceptions.
