OBJECTIVES:
1. Learn what blackout poetry is.
2. Create an original blackout poem.
First things first...
1. Brainstorm on the paper provided.
2. Write one word that comes to mind when you hear the word "poetry."
Next:
But what on earth is...
Blackout Poetry???
YOUR TASKS:
Choose a random torn-out page from a book.
Read that page.
Use a pencil to circle only the words you want to appear in your blackout poem.
The only rule is that the words you select must be read from top to bottom, left to right.
Go to the tables covered with newspaper to "blackout" the words which are NOT part of your poem.
The "blacked-out part" may be black, or it may be another color, or multiple colors, or it may be a drawing/shape/something artistic to help represent what your poem is about.
