You may decline or defer enrollment through the Monday of the third week of the semester (i.e. the last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" on your transcript).
Fall 2025: Monday, September 15, 2025
Spring 2026: Monday, February 2, 2026
Declining means you are choosing to not enroll in courses through the UMN Twin Cities PSEO program for future semesters. (This action is for PSEO only and does not impact U of M undergraduate enrollment.)
If you decline admission as a newly admitted junior, you can reapply for your senior year.
Complete the PSEO Enrollment Status Change Form.
Deferring can mean two things:
A new student has been admitted to the UMN Twin Cities PSEO program for fall semester but will delay their start date by one semester (to spring).
A returning student has taken at least one course through the UMN Twin Cities PSEO program (in either fall or spring the academic year they are admitted) and will delay their future enrollment by one or two semesters.
Example: A returning student has taken one course through PSEO in Spring 2026 and will delay their future enrollment to Spring 2027 (skipping Fall 2026).
Follow the steps outlined in your admission email to accept your offer of admission.

New students can only defer one semester since they must take at least one course through the UMN Twin Cities PSEO program in either fall or spring the academic year they are admitted. Therefore, new juniors cannot defer their admission to senior year and would need to reapply for admission for the next academic year.
Returning students can defer two semesters in a row as long as they have taken at least one course through the UMN Twin Cities PSEO program in fall the academic year they are admitted. Submit a new PSEO Enrollment Status Change Form each semester you want to defer.
