Applying to Another College

Transcripts and Transferring PSEO Credits

It's important to note that your U of M college GPA starts now! PSEO courses (along with U of M College in the Schools (CIS) and UMTYMP) are part of your U of M transcript and will follow you well beyond this experience. There isn't a separate PSEO transcript. Your U of M transcript looks like any other undergraduate at the U of M. Even if you don't attend the U of M as a freshman, you will need to send your U of M transcript to other colleges and universities you apply to. Furthermore, if you apply to a graduate program, MBA, or a professional program, like medical or law school, you will be required to send the school your U of M transcript.

After you graduate from high school you may decide to apply to the U of M. If this is the case, you won’t need to worry about transferring credits; you will simply build on the transcript you started as a PSEO student.

If you apply to another institution, you will have to send your Official U of M transcripts to that institution by ordering them through One Stop. Remember that accepting transfer credits is always a decision made by the individual institution. In the majority of cases, your PSEO credits will transfer to other colleges and universities.

Most states, however, do not have programs like Minnesota’s PSEO program, so some out-of-state schools may not understand that you have done regular college-level course work before being an undergraduate. In talking with officials at your college, stress that the program allows high school students to take regular on-campus University classes. Always keep the syllabi from the classes you have taken in case there are any questions about the content.

There are a few schools that simply will not accept PSEO credits. If you are concerned about the transfer of credits, contact the admissions offices of colleges to which you will be applying. If you run into problems and would like a member of our staff to contact someone on your behalf, let us know.

If the college or university you are attending (or will be attending) requires you to obtain written verification about your time in PSEO, send such request(s) directly to the PSEO Office.

Students Deferring Admission or Taking a Gap Year

If you plan to defer your undergraduate admission for a semester or a year (or more), taking courses after graduating high school (including summer courses) may revoke your offer of admission and/or change your admission/application status (e.g. from freshman to transfer). Contact your college or university's admissions office for more information.

PSEO Credit Transfer

View the document below  to see how PSEO credits have transferred to other institutions for previous students. This information has been provided by past PSEO participants and should only be used as a guide. Contact each school to inquire about their transfer credit policy.

*Note: These are the experiences of previous PSEO students. The transferring of your own credits may be different. Contact your University in question directly to learn more about how your credits may transfer.

U of M Internet Account/Access Longevity

Students can continue to access their U of M account elements such as MyU for six semesters after their last PSEO class.

However, you can only access your U of M email account and Google apps for one semester after your last class in PSEO.
