As a PSEO student, you are not formally admitted to the University of Minnesota. If you want to attend the University of Minnesota upon high school graduation, you will have to apply for undergraduate admission. You will be using the first year/freshman application for the University of Minnesota (and any other schools you apply to) and NOT the transfer application. Please review the Freshman Admissions Overview.
When you apply to the University, your application is reviewed for one of the eight first-year student admitting colleges after you select your academic area of interest on the application. For example, if you select English as your academic area of interest, your application will be reviewed for the College of Liberal Arts (learn more about colleges and majors here). Applicants are first considered for admission to the colleges listed in their application, in the order in which they are listed. Then, applicants are automatically considered for other University of Minnesota freshman-admitting colleges that may be a good fit with their academic interests and preparation.

Review the high school course expectations for admission
Senior-year courses: Applicants must list senior-year courses in the Academic Record section of the application. PSEO students should list the courses they think they'll take in spring. Update your UMN application in January if your course list changes. See the Academic Record FAQ to learn how to update your application.
PSEO high school seniors who apply by the University's Twin Cities Office of Admission's November 1, 2025 Early Action deadline for fall 2026 first-year admission and have either taken or are enrolled in a UMN course as a PSEO student at the time they apply will be provided an admission decision by December 15, 2025.
New high school seniors admitted to the PSEO program who defer their fall semester will not receive an early admission decision benefit.
PSEO students still need to pay the $55 application fee
Admission decisions are sent out on a rolling basis. It is likely you will receive your decision prior to Dec. 15. See more about admissions timelines here.
Your admission decision may be Admit, Defer, Deny, or Waitlist. More information can be found here.
The early action decision is non-binding, meaning you are not required to attend the University of Minnesota if admitted.
Also, note that the Office of Admissions will review your senior year University grades in January and again in May. Based on this information, they may alter your University admission decision.
See Final High school transcripts and grades for more information
The early action decision option for the University's Twin Cities PSEO students is not guaranteed and will be reviewed annually by the Twin Cities Office of Admissions. The PSEO early decision option for fall 2027 first-year admission will be finalized by April 2026.
Scholarships
The University will automatically review your admission application to determine scholarship offers and admission to the University Honors Program. There is no separate application.

If you are a senior and are admitted to the University for the following fall, you will be required to attend a college orientation session in the summer before you can register as a degree-seeking student. Welcome Week is also required.
If you plan to defer your admission for a semester or a year (or more), taking courses after graduating high school (including May and summer terms) will revoke your offer of admission and force you to reapply as a transfer student.
If you receive a U Card as a PSEO student and then apply and are accepted to UMN Twin Cites for your Undergraduate Education, you will use the same U Card. You are only eligible for a free U Card every 5 years.
