How to Register for a Course: step-by-step guide with visual examples of each step
Video walkthrough [6 minutes]
Add courses to your MyU shopping cart by one of the following two methods:
Best for sending a bunch of courses at once: Send a saved schedule from Schedule Builder to MyU's shopping cart.
Add the 5-digit course number directly to MyU.
Select A-F for the grading basis, if available. S/N is rarely an option; see Grade Basis (S/N) on the Policies page for more information. "Auditing" a course is never allowed.
Select "Yes, put me on the waitlist if the class is full." (It asks this even if there are open seats in the course.)
Ignore the message you'll see about being a "non-degree student" and click "OK."
Follow the course registration guide from step #6 to complete your enrollment.
You will see a green check mark when your registration is successfully completed as indicated in this image.
Schedule Builder lags a few minutes behind MyU. If a course appears open on Schedule Builder but full on MyU, trust MyU.
Register for classes as you find them instead of waiting to build the perfect schedule. Waiting may cause you to lose your seat to others.
Course withdrawal dates and deadlines - no penalty/mark for dropping a course even two weeks into the semester
Getting into Closed Courses - includes math permission guide, reserved seating (treat as closed), how wait lists work
Add yourself to a wait list - If you join a short wait list today (~0-2 students), you may have a decent chance at getting into the course!
Swap or "future swap" a class - "Future swap" would set you up to automatically swap from an enrolled course into a wait listed course, if you eventually get in from the wait list. Use this if you want to enroll in a back-up course that meets at the same time as a course for which you're on a wait list.
Course planning overview: how many credits to take, what not to take
Common course lists: fill high school requirements, online courses, 1-2 credit courses
Schedule Builder tips: find open courses, liberal education requirements, online courses, and courses worth a specific number of credits
