Here are all the links and tips given at today’s lesson with the English students at our school’s Secondary Education for Adults.

Another recommendation to you is to create a log book, a diary of sorts, on all your searches in your work. This will help you to come back to the great articles, or to help you avoid coming back to the same article again and again. It will also help when it’s time to write down all that you’ve found, and to make correct citations. If OneDrive is something that works for you – use that. Or if you have a Google account – collect everything in the app/website Google Keep or in some smart order at Google Drive.

Social sciences

Global Issues in Context – source for current and older material, on current or semi-current events. You need a password (ID) for the database – you can find it at Mediateket@Fronter, or via mrs Elebo.

Nature sciences

DOAJ – an international and free database with 9000 science magazines and more than 1 miljon articles. Everything from short references to in-the-depth articles on current research within most areas

Swepubacademic material from the higher levels at the Swedish universities. In Swedish and English.

Uppsatser.se – mostly in Swedish. Academic material from the lower levels at the Swedish universities (i.e. Bachelor’s or Masters degree).

They are normally heavily reviewed, and can therefore be used a source in themselves. But the authors have most often made a review of the literature on the subject – use that knowledge and find many sources.

Science Direct – Articles and other material within Science, Technology and Medicin.

Writing your report

Our school has some rules and tips on how to write a report. Look them through here (in Swedish), and decide with your teacher or tutor which method (Oxford or Harvard) you shall use.
