Opportunities for Faculty

A repository of training opportunities for faculty.

TSTC is dedicated to supporting our faculty with training opportunities that strengthen teaching skills and enhance the learning experience. The sessions below are available for all TSTC instructors.

Classroom Management

This session offers instructors practical strategies for building a structured, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Together, we’ll explore ways to set clear expectations, encourage accountability, and address challenges while keeping students actively involved.

By the end of this training, faculty will have the opportunity to:

  • Create effective classroom routines and procedures.

  • Strengthen student engagement and participation.

  • Apply proactive strategies for managing behavior.

  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for learning.

Session time: 1 hour
Session type: Trainer-led

LEAD (Learn, Enhance, Accelerate, Develop) Training Series

Each month, the Instructional Design & Support (IDS) Team offers a training session on a variety of topics designed to support the faculty in course design, instruction, and the use of technology.

Faculty, you will leave with practical strategies to enhance your teaching and strengthen your classroom management.

Session time: 1 hour, usually hosted on Friday mornings
Session type: Trainer-led

Basics of Online Teaching - AutoBOT (self-paced)

The BOT course is designed for anyone who would like extra guidance and practical tips for teaching online. This introductory experience offers a supportive overview of online course design while highlighting the essential elements that make an online class engaging and effective. You’ll gain tools and strategies to help you feel confident in creating meaningful learning experiences for your students in a virtual setting.

By the end of this course, faculty will be able to:

  • Recognize the foundational components of online course design.

  • Apply best practices for creating engaging and accessible online learning experiences.

  • Identify strategies to effectively facilitate and support students in an online environment.

  • Build confidence in delivering instruction through online platforms.
