Bringing a new teammate on board is more than just paperwork and training — it’s about making them feel welcome, supported, and excited to be part of the team. As a manager, you set the tone for their first days and help lay the foundation for their success.
Request or assign a workstation, office, or cubicle.
Coordinate with IT for any new tech (computer, phone, software).
Provide ergonomic or ADA accommodations if needed.
Request system access relevant to the new role.
Grant physical access to needed areas (keys, badges, fobs).
Provide access to relevant shared drives, calendars, and systems.
Share expectations, performance goals, and training plans.
Schedule introductory meetings with team/stakeholders.
Provide organizational charts, resources, and departmental SOPs.
Ensure job description and reporting structure are updated.
Confirm payroll and timekeeping changes reflect the new department.
Schedule check-ins during the transition period.
Ensure Leaves approval access has been transferred.
Ensure correct title change/dept./etc. has been entered in Workday, changed in your electronic email signature, website/Google site, etc.
