Healthy Active Living & Hinge Health

Active living supports long-term health—build movement into daily routines for strength, stamina, and quality of life. Anyone can benefit from regular physical activity. Research shows that moderate amounts of physical activity on most days of the week can improve your health and quality of life. This seminar will teach participants about the benefits of being active as well as the risks of inactivity. They will also learn about the components of fitness and activities, and the six stages of behavior change toward a healthier lifestyle.
Hinge Health is a digital, physical therapist-led musculoskeletal (MSK) care program. Hinge Health is available at no additional cost to eligible participants and includes access to the Hinge Health mobile app and a care team including a board-certified health coach and physical therapist. This digital program is focused on exercise therapy designed to address a wide range of MSK conditions. It can be done anywhere, at any time.

Becoming a Self-Starter & Learn to Live

Being a self-starter means taking initiative and staying motivated, even when guidance or certainty are limited. In a fast-changing world, self-starters adapt, bounce back from challenges, and actively seek to learn. This approach focuses on building inner drive, confidence, and ownership of one’s work. By knowing what motivates them, developing resilience, adopting a growth mindset, and prioritizing wellbeing, individuals can keep moving forward and avoid burnout. Becoming a self-starter is a skill that can be learned and improved over time.
Learn to Live is an online, on-demand, self-paced mental health service grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. This style of therapy focuses on thoughts and actions and how adjusting those can positively impact an individual’s state of mind. All Learn to Live programs can be accessed online via desktop, tablet or mobile device and use videos and interactive lessons to engage participants.

Retirement Planning and Pensions

Planning for retirement is one of the most significant financial milestones, with lasting a impact on well-being and quality of life. This introductory session helps participants understand the fundamentals of retirement planning and the key factors that influence financial security in later life. Participants will explore core concepts such as setting retirement goals, understanding common retirement savings approaches (including pensions, personal savings, and investments), and considering long-term factors like inflation and changing needs. In this session, participants will gain the awareness and confidence needed to evaluate options and identify their next steps when it comes to planning their retirement.
The Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas is one of the largest public retirement systems in the United States, serving over 1.9 million members. Kori will guide us through the specific aspects of TRS retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. These are available to Texas public education employees and their beneficiaries.
