NVC is the use of the face, body, eyes, voice and the situation to help understand what a person is saying as well as supporting how that message is conveyed.

NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION (NVC)
Examples:
facial expressions
gesture
body movement
eye-movement (gaze, pointing etc)
voice – tone, pitch, volume, intonation, speed
context – the clues from the situation
About half of what we say is conveyed through NVC. It helps us understand and convey feelings and moods. NVC can offer lots of support to aid understanding and should be used as a strategy. However, it is important to point out that some students rely heavily on NVC that they mask some of their difficulties understanding the language used.
