Level 2 is open at Year 9 for students with a sufficient level of French and at Year 10 for students who completed Level 1. Level 2 French serves as a natural progression from Level 1 (compacted Yr7/8 curriculum), leveraging students' existing language knowledge to explore more complex grammatical structures and more nuanced cultural aspects. Students consistently practise the 4 essential macro-skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking). This transition prepares students for the challenges of higher-level language studies while ensuring content appropriateness for their current level.
In both Level 2 and Level 3, students are equally prepared for Year 11 language studies. This approach ensures that no students are disadvantaged, and all pathways support academic progression and a deeper appreciation for the language and culture among our high ability learners.
