The 2026 IB Psychology syllabus (first exams 2027) is designed to:

• Encourage students to become psychologically literate global citizens.

• Foster deep understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and social dynamics.

• Integrate real-world relevance, focusing on how psychology can solve individual and societal issues.

• Promote a concept-based and inquiry-driven approach to learning.

Subject Aims

The aims of the IB Psychology course, as outlined in the official subject brief, are as follows:

• Develop Knowledge and Understanding: Students will gain knowledge and understanding of psychological concepts, content, and contexts, including models and theories associated with these areas.

• Critical and Creative Thinking: The course encourages students to think critically and creatively about behaviour and cognitive processes.I

• Application to Real-World Problems: Students will engage with problems facing individuals, groups, and societies using psychological understanding and skills.

These aims are designed to promote psychological literacy, enabling students to apply psychological knowledge to real-world situations and to understand the complexities of human behaviour.
