Level 2 Music is a pathway towards senior Music Performance and IB Music. In this class you will explore Popular Music styles and investigate how Music has evolved through the decades. You will develop a deeper understanding of the role of Music throughout history, and it's importance in today's society. You will adapt learn to adapt musical ideas to analyse, compose and perform music in a range of styles.
Research and analysis skills to understand how music is organised
Performance and presentation skills, via solo and ensemble performances
Composition and creative skills, creating your own music based on different stimuli
Musicianship, theory and aural skills through practise and ear training
Time management, planning and organisational skills by developing practise routines to prepare for performance
General Musicianship skills, including reading, notating and identifying musical concepts.
Music Analysis Unit: Learning how to respond to, interpret, and write about music from a range of time periods, places and musical stylesÂ
Composition Unit: Creating a range of original pieces of music inspired by different genres and time periods
Performance Unit: Working individually and as a group to plan, rehearse, and perform a piece of music to an audience
Assessment: Students will regularly practise developing and refining music skills via a range of compositions, listening journals and performance practise. Graded assessments include a summative composition in a chosen style, a summative listening response and a final ensemble performance.
