Suzanne Cory High School offers an extensive Co-Curricular program, which develops individual talents and opportunities through a range of experiences every fortnight. The idea behind the program is to develop a well-rounded individual and as such, each student is required to complete 1 semester of an Active and 1 semester of a Creative/Community Service based co-curricular each year. Some co-curricular classes cover both active and creative/community service requirements and run as whole year classes.
The 2026 Co-Curricular Subject Handbook can be found here for you to read about the offerings in 2026 prior to making your selections.
The SCHS Sport Program aims to promote physical activity, social connection, and healthy lifestyles among Year 9 and 10 students of mixed abilities. The program will consist of three streams: Competitive Sport, Recreation, and Fitness, catering to diverse interests and needs.
There will be rotations of activities approximately every 4 weeks to increase the variety of experiences students have and to allow students to develop a wide range of skills over an extended time.
To give girls and non-binary students the best opportunity to engage more readily in Competitive Sport, this stream will have the option of a girls and non-binary students class. The Competitive Sport stream is offered with a girls and non-binary students option as this is the stream where physical differences will have the most impact on sport dynamics and on the safe level of competition for all of our students. There is also a mixed gender class for this stream which students may also select.
As with all subjects, classes will only run if there is sufficient numbers to feasibly run a class. Students are to select their preferences and whilst all efforts will be made to place you in a higher preference class, your selections cannot be guaranteed.
Competitive Sport (mixed gender class OR girls and non-binary class)
A competitive sport stream within the program, featuring organised tournaments in popular sports like basketball, soccer, AFL and volleyball.
This stream is designed for athletes seeking to develop their skills and compete at a higher level.
This stream has more team-based sports to allow students to develop interpersonal skills required for strong teamwork.
Recreation (mixed gender class)
A stream that offers a fun and relaxed environment for individuals to engage in sports and physical activities at their own pace, whilst still promoting physical health.
Students will participate in a mix of recreational sports, as well as experience a variety of non-sport physical activities like yoga, cheerleading, self-defence and circus skills.
Participants can expect a laid-back atmosphere where they can build friendships, try new activities, and stay active without the pressure of competition or high-level performance. There is a mix of team and solo activities to allow students to build interpersonal skills and still focus on their individual physical development.
Fitness (mixed gender class)
This stream offers a comprehensive approach to physical development, combining high-intensity sports with structured fitness classes and gym training.
Students can participate in activities which challenge their cardiovascular endurance, agility and teamwork skills. Additionally, the stream includes fitness classes and conditioning, allowing students to individually develop their overall fitness and athleticism.
By participating in the Fitness stream, students can improve their physical fitness, develop healthy habits, and cultivate a lifelong commitment to active living.
