Applied Computing introduces students to how digital systems and data are used to solve real-world problems. It focuses on designing digital solutions using practical tools such as databases, spreadsheets, and simple programming. The subject encourages creativity and logical thinking through hands-on projects.
You will learn to design and create digital solutions, manage and visualise data, develop basic coding skills, and apply problem-solving processes. You'll also improve your ability to work independently and collaboratively on digital projects.
Unit 1: Data analysis and programming
Unit 2: Innovative solutions and cyber security
Practical projects, design tasks, written reports, programming activities, or end-of-unit tests
Applied Computing is a great foundation for pathways into software development, IT, cybersecurity, data science, game design, and computer engineering. It also supports further study in the VCE Computing or IT stream in Units 3 & 4.
