How will we live in 2070?
Working through a design process you will creatively explore current real industry big ideas including density, adaptability, Circular Design Practices and the role of Human Centred Design Practices in developing Environments & Interactive Experiences to speculate on what life in Werribee / Point Cook might be like in 50 years time.
Drawing is a key skill in design, you will learn multiple methods and techniques both manual and digital to develop ideas and present final ideas in polished professional presentation formats. As well as manual drawing skills you will learn industry standard software tools like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp and Adobe XD to communicate your ideas.
Completing this subject allows for early access to Visual Communication Design Unit 3/4 in Year 11.
Students will learn
Ideation practices and software tools used in User Interface & User eXperience design (such as Figma or Adobe XD) to develop and refine a design solution in response to a set brief.
Primary research and investigation methods used in industry, including site visits; case studies; audience personas/profiles and surveys.
How to analyse findings to identify design problems and propose solutions
Collaboration and providing feedback on design ideas
3D drawing (perspective & paraline)
2D drawing (floor plans, side elevations, wireframing)
Adobe Illustrator techniques for developing architectural illustrations & renders
Adobe Photoshop techniques for developing architectural illustrations & renders
User Interface design using Adobe XD or Figma
Students will investigate and develop a design based solution to improve sustainability in the built environment using critical thinking, analysis, problem solving skills as well as developing the visual communication skills used in design.
You will investigate future trends affecting livability in our local context by looking at relevant examples from elsewhere
You will investigate ways in which to balance an increasing population while maintaining the integrity of the environment
