Objective:
Using the Surrealist techniques and ideas, create a mixed media collage based off of a dream you've had.
Big Idea:
Surrealism is the link between conscious and unconscious thought. Surrealism narrows in on your subconscious mind to create visual images that connect the world of dreams with reality. It is formed through the expression and combination of dream and symbolism.
Essential Questions:
How do artists use symbolism and metaphor in their work?
How does emotion and expression effect an artwork?
How does an artist create a mood?
What does it mean for an artwork to be ambiguous?
What do the terms juxtaposition, dislocation, and transformation mean and how do Surrealist artists use them?
