Nature Inspired Pottery

Objective:

Create a clay sculpture inspired from nature.

Big Idea:

Throughout history, famous sculptors have been inspired by nature. Nature as a subject can be very expressive and emotionally impacting. Sculpture must reference nature but also serve as some sort of container.

What inner constructions are needed to build a clay structure?

What are the different stages of clay?

What is slipping and scoring?

What are the slab and coil construction methods?

What different aspects of nature could be used as inspiration?
