Text Drawings

Objective:

Create a drawing using text that is inspired from a current event.

Big Idea:

Students will choose a topic or issue that is going on in the world right now. They will come up with an image to depict this issue. Rather than shading the image, they will use different size text to show the light. Text can be journal response to the event or factual text about the event/issue.

Essential Questions:

Name three artists that used the events of their time to make art?

How do artists respond to social issues?

What is mark making?

How can one shade with a mark?
