For this project, the subject of the photo specifically a person had to show some kind of emotion or thoughtfulness. One sport that I hold near and dear to my heart is motocross. It's a common misconception that racers don't think about anything but winning. That is anything but the truth. Riders are constantly thinking about their seating position on the bike and where their feet are on the pegs and where their eyes are focused. This is a photo of my brother riding on a track we built at my house before the snow came. It's tough to see but his eyes are staring down the track at the end of the turn that he went into. For myself, there's more though that goes into my riding and racing than what goes into solving math problems.
I had just started taking a break to warm my hands up but my brother wasn't taking any breaks and we had already been riding for a few hours. When I took the break, I started watching him ride and noticing where he was getting on the throttle and where he was looking and I thought that this would make a great portrait for the thoughtful portrait project. Sure enough, I was right. It's tough to see but his eyes give him the expression that he is on a mission and that represents the amount of thought that goes into riding and racing motocross. Everything that came out of this photo was almost exactly how I imagined it. If i were to change anything about this photo I would brighten up the area around the goggles to make his eyes more visible.
