Abstraction

So Much Green

This is my photo for abstraction. I took it while out on a walk and there was a potted plant sitting near the road and though I would just take a picture of it and maybe post it on Instagram. Then I saw how abstract it looked and decided to use it for the abstraction project.

Like many people, I go on walks fairly often during quarantine. Doing this has given me some amazing photo opportunities. This photo is of a plant that was sitting in a pot next to the road and originally I didn't think this photo could be much. Abstraction has never been my specialty. I see a lot of abstract pieces and most of them are either paintings or computer generated. Now I'm not a good painter. Not even a little bit, nor do I know how to do CGI. The most I've ever done with any kind of animation was stop motion in sixth grade. After looking at some examples of abstract photos, I got some ideas. They were pretty involved but I was up to the challenge. Little did I know that my abstract photo would be taken almost by accident. The unedited version of this photo had some weird reflections on the leaves and turning down the exposure tamed down the reflections and made the whole image look overall darker. If I had to change more I would add something in the middle in that dark spot to make it seem like the leaves formed a portal.
