Wire Sculpture

Artist Statement:

The assignment was to pick a object that gave you a nostalgic feeling and turn it into a wire sculpture. The subject of creation was a mini Piggy Bank. The materials that I used were 18 gauge wire, 24 gauge wire and pliers.

Some elements of art I used are Shape and Form. Some principles of design I used are Balance and Emphasis. I think my project evolved by me changing how I was bending the wire and how I was connecting the points.

(The meaning) my family and I used to save money in a piggy bank for our summer vacation. I am proud of the connections on the sculpture, it is pretty stable. I struggled on measurements for the height of the sculpture I kept cutting wire pieces that were to big. I overcame this struggle by taking that part apart and re-measuring.
