Blind Contour Drawing

Artist Statement:

The assignment was to draw your hands and face with out looking at the paper you were drawing on. You had to put the point of the pen on a piece of paper ready to draw and took the other hand, turn away from the piece of paper and trace your hand slowly with your eyes while moving the pen with the other hand. After that we had to turn it into an image. The materials that I used were a black sharpie and a palette of water color paint.

The elements of art I used are Color, Space and Shape. Some Principles of design that I used are Contrast and Unity. This project evolved from just black and white blind contour hands and faces to a picture based off of want I saw in the image.

When I looked at the picture before adding color and more blind contours I tried to see if I saw anything in the image. With it I saw a Sc-Fi factor behind it. I am most proud of the colors I was able to make with the watercolor. I think I struggled by the dimensions of the different layers of ground. If I could revise I think maybe I would do something with the floating orange hand on the left.
