Circle Project

"Theoretical Skies" (7.6in x 9.7in)

Artist Statement:

The idea behind this project was the the solar system and how the planets and stars are round and circular. I chose to make this because I have always been interested in space and our solar system.

I made this project by painting my background first and layering it with different colors. I then found and cut out circles in the colors of the planets from pages of magazines. The materials I used were Acrylic paint, glue, and magazine pages.

I experimented with my processes by cutting out different and random pages of magazines that looked like they matched a planets color and found the one that was the closest to the planets color. I think that my project evolved by the color and contrast of the background to the planets. I think that my next steps would to be adding some stars to the background or adding Saturns rings.
