Painted Collage

Artist Statement:

The assignment was to make a collage and recreate using skills we learned doing our last project. The subject of this project was the four seasons the earth goes through. I mixed different shades of paint to match the color in the background of a section and I painted the background then I started adding smaller details. The materials I used were acrylic paint and a pencil.

Some elements of art I used are Color and Value. I think some principles of design I used were Contrast and Rhythm. I arranged the pictures on the collage so the colors wouldn't clash or blend in with each other. I think my project evolved by the way I was holding/using the paint brush. I changed the black spots and trees in the second section.

The meaning behind this project was the wonder of the changing earth. I am most proud of the third section with the way the waves came out and the way the sky/clouds came out in the second section. I struggled the fall area trying to add texture to the trees and leaves. I over came this struggle by switching to a stiffer brush. If I could revise this project I would probably add finer and more detailed flowers in the first section.
