Scratch board

At the beginning of this project we were told to find a picture that showed focus and a full range of value I chose my cat Tod. I created my image by taking the light on the picture and scratching away the the light areas to show my picture through the dark background. I used A couple different variants of stencils to get the textures and designs I used to create my cat drawing.

the elements I used was value in his fur to show his 3rd dimensional body, Line to show the shapes and things I put on my scratch, Texture to make the carpet and his fur. for the principles I used Contrast and emphasis on the fur coat to show the different areas of tods coat. I used movement to show tods action in the photo and finally rhythm when doing the carpet and fur. My project started at a piece of black scratch paper than the white neck piece of tods neck than his faces, body and finally the carpet.

My project has no story but I do think it shows how I like tod because i spent the time to scratch him out. I am the most proud of of the face region and the neck region of tod because I think it looks the best and I think that it's the subject of my drawing. I struggled with the body region im kind of disappointed with it I think i could've done better on it. I was able to pass this obstacle by persevering and copying as best as possible And I definitely think I could've tried harder and got better results on the body.
