Art Historical Self Portrait

We were told to find a picture we liked than make it black white and grid it than take A piece of paper and grid it to the same size as we gridded our picture then to copy the picture down only copying the face and hair nothing in the background once finished with the face we were told to choose an artist from an art history movement and make a background inspired by their works of art. My creation consists of my face with a background of the word face 3 times in blue on an orange background similar to Ed Ruscha's art style. my piece was made using a pencil and eraser for the face part and colored pencils for the background.

When making my art I used a bit of every element and most of the principles to create a complex intricate portrait of my face which seems a bit misshapen and I would like to change that I would also like to revise some of the shadings it seems to jump a little to harshly from dark to light and the last thing I would want different would be to give my self more of a head for my facial features because they seem big in comparisons.

Well, the literal meaning behind my head would be the word "Face" but I don't know when I saw ed's style of art I immediately thought that is me that is what I would like to do with this picture and I think my style of art is a close reflection of his. I definitely the proudest of the background of my artwork just because after seeing how my head came out Compared to the background just looks so much better and I am very pleased on how that came out. I definitely struggled on the head shape and hair along with shading but i Was able to work through this just by sticking with it and getting it done. my entire head and face definitely could've be much better I wish I had taken more steps back to look at my peicew3 and had more time to work on it.
