Christmas Print

The ideas that were present in this piece was the notion of Christmas trees and the overall Christmas spirit. The reason I chose this theme was because I am currently very excited for the Christmas holiday and the Christmas season!
This was made by using fabric gelli to create prints on white paper. I made nine prints and each set consisted of three prints. For example, the first one created a negative space of the leaves that I chose to put on the paper when I used the gelli. Then, I did the next print using the same gelli and it created a very detailed leaf print. Then I used the left-over ink to create the "ghost" print which was very light. I chose the second print of one of my sets because I instantly saw Christmas trees!
The first process after actually creating the prink was suing markers of different colors to create the lights and ornaments to decorate the trees. I then added stars to the tops of the trees for a finishing touch. Then I added presents at the bottom of the trees and of course, Santa's sleigh! I am proud of how the reindeer turned out because at first, I wasn't sure how to draw a cartoon reindeer, but then I used an image and looked at it to inspire my own. My project started with only the ornaments but then I kept adding new Christmas objects to it. I also enjoyed the white speckled background because it reminded me of snow fall which would add to the Christmas theme.
