Candy Still Life

Tootsie Rolls and a Snicker

9.75"x7"

The evident ideas in this piece are the pieces of halloween candy that I chose from the bag to put into my art work. Although I came in late and had little variety to chose from, I ended up finding a Snickers bar in the bag which was exciting. I also found a pink Tootsie Roll and a green one.

This work was made by first sketching out the outline and shadow shape with a 4H pencil. Then I chose oil pastels to use because I like the way they have a smooth and concentrated look. I had to be sure to build up the contrast and use the color to create its darkest shade.

Processes that I used were building up the color's concentration and using lighter and darker tones of the same color to create its shadow. My project evolved because I began to make my candy darker and more concentrated as I built up the shadow. Next steps could be filling in the white background.
