Foundations of Art

Freshman year I did not take an art class, art had always been something I was fairly good at and liked, but I would try to do things that made me fit in more, and I did not explore the things that made me unique.

When I did start taking foundations of art at the beginning of the year, however, I had a very different view than I do now. I did not like panting, I much more preferred colored pencils. This changed dramatically when I did more art projects that involved panting and I watched videos and learned that way how to further my art. Now that my skills have advanced, and I have found that acrylic paint is my medium of choice, art is a lot more fun for me now because I have the drive to make more paintings.

I think my work shows my improvement because I have learned how to make my work more detailed and realistic since I started, and that is illustrated in the difference between my first painting of the zoomed shoe when I couldn't paint a simple dolphin to my duck stamp, which is the work I'm most proud of.

The works that were the hardest for me were the ones that I was not passionate about. For the projects, I loved making I would go home and work on them for hours, but the ones I didnt like were hard for me to do at all.

My goal for the future is to do more paintings and take more pictures to paint like I did for the duck stamp, and keep improving my skills in realism and my level of detail.
