Sustained Investigation #11

Mallard family

9"x12"

acrylic paint, canvas

For this project I wanted to make the most realistic and accurate ducks I could. I was lucky enough to have reference photos that I could directly copy which helped me capture light and reflections accurately. I painted this on canvas with acrylic paint, something I learned is to base coat the canvas in a plain color which really helps so there's no white spots. For my process I started by sketching out my ducks, then shortly realized they were too high on the canvas, but once I fixed that I was able to work my way up and over from the left corner.  This goes with my investigation because it is a exsperiacne I had with water and also wildlife.
