Sharpie on Printmaking Paper

In art class, we were given the assignment to draw negative space. For the Negative Space Leaves artwork, I chose 5 leaves. My inspiration behind the background was to create different zentangles for each open space. I chose zentangles because there is something so relaxing about drawing without thinking about shading or the design. Sometimes with zentangles, you just go with it!

The materials I used to create the Negative Space Leaves artwork were printmaking paper and fine and medium-tip sharpies.

The process of creating this artwork was super relaxing. I went outside and gathered around 10 leaves. I chose 5 leaves and placed them on a piece of paper. Next, I grabbed print-making paper where I drew the leaves from my composition. Then, I traced each line with a fine-tip sharpie and finished the artwork by creating zentangles for each open space (see above).
