Charcoal, Ink, and Graphite on Pastel Paper

I have assigned to draw a realistic drawing, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! My inspiration for creating this piece of artwork was to go back to the excitement of getting a new puppy. He's now so grown, so drawing him reminded me of when he was little and snuggly in his blanket. I think that drawing square by square made it so much easier and more manageable than drawing from scratch.

The materials I used to create this piece of artwork were charcoal sticks and pencils, white and black ink pens, graphite, and pastel paper.

The process of this artwork was super time-consuming but very fun and relaxing! Firstly, I gridded my pastel paper with a graphite pencil. Next, I began drawing my dog with both charcoal sticks and pencils. I made sure to use a variety of shading techniques to make the drawing as realistic as possible. I used a tortillion to help with the shading. Lastly, I finished the artwork by using both white and black ink. I used a black ink pen for any fine lines such as the hair, and I used a white ink pen for highlights on the eyes and nose.
