Butterfly

Graphite Pencil on Drawing Paper

9" x 12"

For my final project for Foundations of Art, I wanted to bring back drawing with pencils from the beginning of the year. It's been a while since I've physically drawn something, so I decided to draw flowers which have been a main theme throughout most of my artwork.

The materials I used to create this piece were graphite pencils and drawing paper.

To create this piece, I drew a 1-inch border on the paper, and I did some research on different types of flowers. Then, I began by sketching the butterfly and each flower. Lastly, I used a B pencil to darken the lines and I used a tortillon to shade things such as pedals and leaves.
