Sustained Investigation #1

My inspiration for this project was my awareness of self-care. Growing up I've always been super aware of my hygiene and appearance which is why I chose to base my question around how self-care affects a person's well-being. For this self-portrait specifically, I painted a picture of myself with makeup versus without makeup, and I used makeup itself in order to connect the material to the essential question. 

The materials I used included makeup, paint, ink pen, and canvas paper. 

To create this project, I came up with the essential question and created a mind map with all of my ideas with a connection to the topic question in some way. As I brainstormed, I came up with my idea for the sustained investigation #1 project and began sketching. Then I scratched away makeup from a palette, put it into white paint, and began painting. Lastly, I added eyelashes with pen and a background.
