The main Idea portrayed in this artwork is taking the clay sgraffito tile and take its shape and incorporate it into a subject. You want to look at the shape and find what subject you see in it then I had to figure out how to use the white space to really bring out the subject in the tile. First I sketch out the shape of the tile and sketch out my idea of what to put on the final tile. Then once I figured out what my design will be I scratched it on scratchboard. Once I was sure of what I was going to scratch away from the final tile I started to do the final product on the tile. I did this so I could experiment with the light vs. the dark.
