Gelli Print

The main idea of this artwork was to use materials to leave white spaces in contrast to the colorful ink in the background. Then to use the blank white space and draw over it to create something. I was trying to figure out what the shapes made by the string resembled. In this case, I saw an octopus with the shapes made so I drew over with sharpie to create the octopus. Using a paintbrush I put two different colors of ink on the gel printing plate, then laid the string down on top of the ink so when I pulled the paper up it would reveal blank white lines. Once I made a few prints I started to look for designs or anything that could resemble something in the white lines. When I found the lines resembled an octopus I used a sharpie to outline where I saw it.
