The main idea of my artwork was to choose a subject, I chose a parrotfish, and make a sculpture based off of the subject. While making this I was trying to figure out how to make my sculpture look accurate based on the subject. Also how to incorporate different materials for example magazine paper instead of just construction paper. Before I could start on the exterior I had to work on the interior of my sculpture. First I balled up newspaper and tightly taped it together. Making sure it is strong and not flimsy. I had to keep building and adding more newspaper until the 'skeleton' was at the length and with that I wanted. Then I hot glued cardboard to make the top fin and the two side fins. After the base of my sculpture was finished I started adding cut-up magazine and construction paper on top. Referring back to a picture I was using to get inspiration on how the colors should look. Before I even started this process of making my sculpture I came up with a few different ideas on what animal, materials, and methods I should use. After I had decided on what I should do and what materials I should use I started looking up reference photos to get an idea of the colors and patterns on the parrotfish.
