To get an idea of what the audience would best appreciate, we conducted a survey including different film genres. We included mystery, crime, coming of age, and psychological horror. Within those genres, we thought of some film ideas that would fit the topic to make it more specific. We came up with the idea of a movie about a missing person and a detective duo if we went down the mystery route. Within the coming of age genre, we were going to make a movie about spring break and young teens out of school. Another movie idea we were considering was a psychological thriller consisting of teens who got lost in the woods. Despite these ideas, we ultimately decided to go with a heist film within the crime genre. This decision was backed up by those who took the survey since it was the highest rated. Within this survey, we conducted a second study asking what their second choices would be. We got the most votes for a psychological thriller but still decided to go through with our heist film. We wanted this second study to have a backup idea incase our initial plan fell through.Â
