Textual Analysis and Representation

In this picture, there are several candle holders and a vase of dead flowers. The middle candle holder is an angel which can symbolize goodness, holiness, and comfort. The angel is all black which may represent darkness, but it is made out of stone. Stone can represent both stability and wisdom. The angel may be made out of stone to show it is stable enough to hold a candle. The angel has long hair and a small smiling face which depicts a happy girl. A biblical angel however is said to have many wings and a central eye which emanates darkness and shadows. This candle holder is much more positive and shows an angel as being divine and a holder of light. The angel in my picture is also wearing a dress which represents warmth and femininity. The angel has two wings on its back which further proves its divine qualities as well as aspiration. If the candle holder depicted a biblically accurate angel, there would be different connotations. The many wings could symbolize intimidation and power while the eye could represent surveillance and paranoia. With a biblically accurate angel in the photo, it could make the dead flowers much more haunting and the scene colder. With the smiling angel however, the dead flowers and light are comforting, warm, and almost nostalgic. The light coming in through the blinds acts almost like a message trying to reach the desktop. The candles and flowers absorb the light which creates a positive environment.
