Since my film is a female lead action movie, it mainly caters to the female audience and those who enjoy thriller movies. However, the four roles are all played by teenage girls. These characters are more likely to appeal to a younger female audience than a male one. Because of this fact, distributing our film on platforms like YouTube, Instagram or Snapchat may be more of an attention grabber than say a pamphlet would. Teenagers are constantly on social media while sharing, liking, and exchanging media. If our product was exchanged on an online platform, it has a better chance of taking off from there opposed to a written article.
Since our target audience is younger, it is important to have specific graphics to ensure they stay hooked. Because most of the younger generation's attention span is short, it is important to stick to less wording and more physical graphics that can be digested easily. Other specific design elements like large fonts or an eye catching title can also be an asset to bringing in that specific audience.
Alike physical graphics such as thrilling title photos or small ads, a trailer may also be very catching for a young audience. Since they grew up in a media consuming era, watching a trailer or some small clips is not unusual. To better distribute our film, it may also be helpful to employ "sneak peaks" or teasers to build suspense.
When deciding how to make this critical reflection, I decided to create an infographic that highlighted the ways my product engaged with the audience and how it could best be distributed. I thought it was important to list the interests and the desires of the audience as well as the action and attention appropriate for accessing them.
