For my camera angle, I chose a low angle. This angle is used to make the character or object seem larger than it really is. In film, the camera will often speed up to show disorientation. At this low of an angle, seeing the sky or ceiling is common. In my photo, the tree is the main object and the sky looks very vast. This will give the subject or object a look of dominance or power since it is the biggest item in the picture. In the photo, the building behind it and the benches around it seem much smaller than the tree itself. This gives the tree importance and a heroic look. The lower the angle is, the higher the perceived height will be. In movies, this shot is often used to make the hero or villain look more intimidating and larger. For example, in the movie “Joker”, the camera faces upwards towards the Joker to show his importance and evil side. Using the low angle can also make the audience feel vulnerable. As they are viewing and this camera shot is used, the audience may feel smaller compared to the character that conveys more power. Aside from conveying emotions, the low angle shot can also break up the visuals and adjust the mood of a scene. High angle shots however, can create vulnerability if a character is being stared down upon or looking at something greater than themselves.
