Sound has the ability to fully immerse an audience into a unique world and help move the storyline along. With the use of small sound effects or background music, sound is one of the most important aspects of film that is not always recognized. Diegetic sound for starters is sound that originates from within the video or the film’s world. For example, this can be a character's scream, the sound of a car revving, the sound of doors slamming, etc. When I watch films, I always look out for the sound effects and I enjoy hearing a lot of diegetic sound within the media. This kind of sound is one of the many things that make film much more relatable to the audience since they may be able to connect the noises to their own lives. In my film, I will make sure to add bits of diegetic sound in the action scenes such as when a gun shoots or the breaking of a glass. The second type of sound is non-diegetic sound. This, unlike diegetic sound, is all the noise that does not specifically exist within the world of the film itself. This sound makes up the noise that the audience can hear but the characters cannot. For example, there could be a sad song playing after a character receives bad news. While the character can't really hear this music, it was made for the audience to better understand and feel their emotions alongside them. For my film opening, I plan on using very suspenseful music as well as rock, my favorite genre, to portray the action and mystery of the heist.
