Well done to the children and parents in these classes!
Dear Parents/Carers,
First, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our families and staff for working with me to mitigate the risk of the Norovirus outbreak in our school. Your cooperation and understanding made such a difference. By Wednesday, our attendance was back in line with national figures, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our rapid response and rigorous systems. I am so grateful to all of you for your support and for keeping children at home when necessary to protect our whole school community. We will continue with the safety measures in place for an additional week as a precaution.
We continue to pray for peace in our world. Let us remember in our prayers all those affected by war and conflict, asking God to bring comfort to those who are suffering and to guide our world leaders towards peace and reconciliation. May we be instruments of peace in our own lives and communities.
This year is the Year of Reading. Reading opens up worlds of imagination, knowledge and possibility for our pupils, and we are committed to nurturing this essential skill and lifelong passion. All classes are visiting the library termly, which helps to foster a love of reading in our children.
We have been looking at ways to develop upon our reading offering even more and I am thrilled to announce that Ms Lodge and I have secured £12,000 in funding for a school library! We hope this exciting project throughout this term, and our senior pupil leadership team will be helping us to develop this wonderful new resource. This library will provide an inspiring space for our children to explore books, develop their reading skills and discover the joy of literature. We cannot wait to share our progress with you.
I want to congratulate all the children who took part in the Mini Marathon. You represented our school with such pride and determination. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you for your commitment and achievement. Thanks to Mr Abrahams and Ms Burgess for organising.
Wishing you all a very peaceful weekend,
Mrs Ashley and the Team
Reception have had a second visit to West Norwood library. We returned our books and got new ones out. We are looking forward to sharing them at home with our grown ups. We had a wonderful story read to us and enjoyed our time there sharing books with our friends.
🎉 Year 2's library adventure came to an epic finale this week! We've absolutely loved exploring West Norwood Library and diving into incredible stories together. This time, we played an awesome game of headbands – guessing tricky words all about libraries and the magical tales hiding on the shelves. We can't wait to get stuck into these stories and let our imaginations run wild with even more amazing ideas! 📚✨
Year 3 pupils have had another busy week including a trip to West Norwood Library where they took part in an author quiz and selected new fiction and non fiction books to read. They also learnt some new hand eye coordination skills during their speed stacking session.
An exciting visit by an Olympic medal winning rhythmic gymnast and a fantastic swimming session ended another wonderful week of learning.
Last week Year 5 performed their fantistic version of Macbeth. We are so proud of how they choreographed their lines, actions and songs! We have had a spelling focus in English, where the children have a chance to use them within a story. In Maths, we have moved onto Decimals and Percentages. In History we are finishing our learning on the Tudors, before we move onto Science.
We have a busy term coming up, with lots of eventst that parents can join us for. Ascension Day is on Thursday 14th May, so we will be celebrating this with a special Liturgy in the afternoon. Our annual Marian Procession will take place on the school field (weather permitting) on Monday 18th May at 9.15am, please allow the children to bring flowers on this day so that we can crown Mary. Our End of Year Celebration Mass will be on Wednesday 15th July, once again on the school field. More information about these events will be sent out nearer the time.
Please also remember that May is the month of the Rosary and the children are welcome to bring their own to school.

This week, pupils took part in the TCS Mini London Marathon in Schools, showing great enthusiasm and determination. In addition, 25 lucky students had the incredible opportunity to run the final stretch of the London Marathon course the day before the main event. It was a memorable experience and a fantastic achievement for all involved.
